In this newer traditional-style home, the homeowners sought a complete rethinking of their primary suite, beginning with a bathroom whose generous square footage was undermined by awkwardly proportioned elements within an unusual octagonal footprint. By removing the underused soaking tub and surrounding decking, the design embraces the room’s geometry, allowing the octagon to become a defining architectural feature rather than a limitation. A custom-built double-sided floating vanity anchors the space, featuring a shared medicine cabinet, traditional column detailing that discreetly houses
electrical and plumbing, and substantial base cabinetry for essential storage, all finished in an antiqued blue that adds warmth and complements the light, patterned wallpaper. The once dark and confined shower was transformed into a bright, open experience with two full walls of glass, increasing light, volume, and connection to the rest of the room. Thoughtfully selected bedroom furnishings echo the bath’s palette, resulting in a cohesive, calming primary suite designed for both comfort and everyday enjoyment.
