CLASSIC CHARM
In this 1930s home, we were tasked with improving the function of the primary bath and laundry room, as well as creating a study that befit the elegance of this classic residence.
We kept the generous footprint of the original study (154 sf), which was bathed in natural light. After removing the knotty pine walls, an integrated safe, and brick on the working fireplace, we had a blank canvas to work from. We meticulously engineered every inch of the cherry paneled walls, moldings that conceal hardware for hanging art, and a custom desk, fireplace surround, and integrated cabinetry. The upscale finishes were enhanced by layers of lighting and a gorgeous wallcovering used on the ceiling. What was once an eyesore in this grand home is now a space the clients enjoy on a daily basis. The new study transforms working from home into a luxurious and serene experience.
Faced with an oversized primary bedroom and a tiny primary bath, we took the opportunity to reconfigure both spaces and created double walk-in closets and a fresh primary bath that reflected the clients’ modern side. We kept the larger elements clean and simple with a custom double vanity and storage cabinet in high gloss white, and added color through the light green penny round tiles that continue into the shower. The white tile laid in a herringbone pattern in the shower adds graphic interest. The window couldn’t be moved, so we added an etched glass screen that allows natural light to pour in while maintaining privacy.
The large new laundry room features custom cabinetry, an integrated washer and heat-pump dryer, and tons of storage space, replacing the 1960s relic that occupied only a portion of the space. Custom glazed tiles complement the colors in the patterned floor, and integrated lighting provides ample brightness to make laundry less of a chore.
This multi-room transformation started with simple requests and resulted in functional, luxurious spaces that are more appropriate for our clients’ beautiful home, and showcase the different elements of their personal style.
It is amazing what is possible. Let’s have a conversation about your home and the space you’d like to transform. We look forward to speaking with you.
