Italian Inspiration

Though compact in size, this kitchen, along with an adjacent mudroom and butler’s pantry, make a big impact in both style and function. The spaces were custom-tailored for a busy family and infused with refinement to complement the elegant aesthetics of the rest of the home.

The contemporary Italian cabinetry showcases a walnut door with a three-dimensional effect and the beautiful combination of horizontal and vertical grain. In lieu of traditional cabinet hardware, embossed solid wood handles run the entire length of each cabinet to maximize clean lines and not distract from other elements. Selective use of high-gloss lacquer and titanium metal adds a touch of polish to the space. In the nearby Butler’s Pantry, we invoked a more traditional feel with Vintage Prairie Green inset cabinetry and shimmering grass cloth wallpaper to create a smooth transition to the formal dining room.

Dreamy Marfil Caesarstone counters line the kitchen and backsplash while custom-made walnut countertops create an eating area on the island and carry through to the Butler’s Pantry. A natural looking porcelain tile was used on the floor to evoke classic European charm.

In addition to a full palette of custom task and decorative lighting, natural light was added to the kitchen through the installation of the large picture window at the sink. The existing window bay, framing the eating area, was enhanced with a custom window seat cushion and mid-century table and chairs.

Perched high on a hill, every detail of this elegant Victorian home was designed for high-style impact and optimized for modern living.
