An Octagonal Challenge

AN OCTAGONAL CHALLENGE

In this newer home in a traditional style, re-thinking the master suite was calling the homeowners. The bathroom square footage was large, yet the original elements were awkwardly proportioned and sat strangely in an octagonal footprint.

By eliminating the unused large soaking tub and decking, we were able to use the octagonal shape of the room as a design element.

The centerpiece of this space is the custom-built, double-sided floating vanity. This main feature boasts a shared medicine cabinet, traditional-styled columns that contain the electrical and plumbing, and the large base cabinets provide functional storage. The antiqued blue paint finish adds warmth and complements the bright color palette of the wallpaper.

We increased the size, light, and enjoyment of the small, dark, cave-like shower stall. The two walls of glass create an open shower that is integrated with the rest of the room.

New furnishings in the bedroom echo the colors of the bath, creating a master suite that is enjoyed every day.
